Stouts

Siren – Hard Pour Broken Dream

A Nitro Breakfast Stout. Like the Cacao and Cherry version, very tasty, rich and generally lovely, not as fruity, but. . . Its a nitro beer, so it is silky smooth, and a better, more well rounded version personally speaking.

Siren – Cacao & Cherry Broken Dream

A twisted Breakfast Stout by all accounts. . . Its nice and smooth, probably owing to the injection of lactose, I guess making it a milk stout. . . Its sweet, but not too much, rich, chocolatey, and has a hint of fruit (not necessarily distinguishable as cherry mind). All in all a really nice pint.

Black Iris – Rise & Shine

Coffee Milk Stout. OK, so its definately got Coffee, although its a light, sort of Latte type flavour. Its not massively strong, and neither is it sweet. Just a solid slightly coffee flavoured stout.

Magic Rock – Dark Arts

Aupposedly a Surrel Stout. . . However, with all the mischief and mystery this conjours up. . . its actually a very bang average, nothing special kind of a stout.

Play Brew – Marshmallow & Peanut Cookie Dough Ice Cream Stout

OK, so this sounds like its going to be disgustingly sweet! and when you first pop it open, the smell reinforces this, it smells awesome, but. . . it is very surprising.

It tastes incredible, but nowhere near as sweet as you would expect. You can just to say taste the peanut, and the marshmallow accounts for the sweetness, but its really just a delicious beer, and brewed right on my doorstep in Middlesbrough, great work lads!

Brewdog – Layer Cake

Chocolate and Marshmallow stout. OK, sounds lovely, and it is nice, but. . . and I feel stupid for not realising this. . . the pink on the can should denote that its strawberry flavour marshmallow! Its a bit sickly if I am honest. Very sweet, and I am not too sure about the kind of strawberry milkshakey type flavour in a dark beer. Not really for me, but then again, not the worst I have had by a long shot.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 7%

Would I recommend? Yes, if its to your liking

Would I buy again? Unlikely
