Brew York Vs. Fierce – The Ghost Dimension

The last of the fifth birthday special edition imperial stouts to sample, its been an epic journey that I am sad to be at the end of. . . I put off trying this for some time as I love chilli and spicy food etc. but. . . I have been bought a number of chilli beers before and they have been awful, just pure heartburn in a can. . . I finally plucked up the courage to try this after reading up on “mole sauce” and realising that it is actually a dessert sauce in Mexico with chilli and tomato in it.

My initial thought was to keep it for when I am due to do a chilli, so as not to waste it, but it didn’t matter, a beautiful beer. had a warmth to it from the chilli sure, but it had a classic stouty flavour, super malty with a nice undertone of chocolate. A great all round beer and definitely the best chilli infusion I have tried. Nailed it BY / Fierce!

Fierce Vs. Brew York – Very Big Flapjack

A very interesting beer. Its sort of a barley wine, but with tonnes of oats in it to give it a sweet and smooth flavour and texture. It tastes nice and strong and was brewed to commemorate Fierces fifth birthday!

ABV – 11%

Brew York Vs. Northern Monk – The Final Chapter

The last in their freaky franchise series. . . a Honeycomb, tonka bean, coconut, cacao and vanilla imperial milk stout. Its strong, very tasty, but slightly overpowered by the coconut, all round a great, solid imperial stout. quite sweet mind. . .

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 15%

Adnams Vs. Thornbridge – Nevermore

An india porter. A paler, more brown hybrid cross between an IPA and a porter. Its wierd, but its not too bad. hoppy, and roasty. has all the flavours you would expect, but a bit of an identity crisis in a can!

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 5%

Would I recommend? Worth a try

Would I buy again? Probably not

Rating: 3/5

Brew York Vs. Naparbier- The Revenge

A Maple & Pecan Imperial Milk Stout. Its pretty incredible, sweet maple syrup, and pecan nuts come through in abundance, in a super smooth stout that tastes nowhere near as strong as it is.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 12%

Would I recommend? Yes

Would I buy again? Yes

Rating: 5/5
