Brouerij Frontaal – Daybreak

A smooth porter, with a sharp, black coffee kind of taste to it.

Not as overpowering as some coffee beers I have tried, it strikes a good balance.

Well worth a try.

Country of Origin: Netherlands

ABV – 6%

Would I recommend? Yes

Would I buy again? Probably

Rating: 4/5

De Moursleutel – Resonance

Coconut Stout all the way from The Netherlands, for sure!

Its got a really nice taste, its not overly sweet and kind of tastes a little like a liquid Bounty bar.

Sampled from: Can

Country of Origin: Netherlands

ABV – 8%

Would I recommend? If you get chance to try. . . Do it!

Would I buy again? Yes

Rating: 5/5

Beatnikz Republic – Kentucky Riot

I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed with this one.

There’s nothing wrong with it as a beer, very nice and drinkable, however it claims to be brewed in bourbon casks etc. and I was anticipating at least abit of that to come out in the taste. I wasn’t getting any of that, so it came across as just a pretty plain Jane stout, with a craft beer price-tag.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 5%

Would I recommend? If your goal is to try all beers then you have to, otherwise, maybe give it a swerve.

Would I buy again? Nah

Tiny Rebel – Stay Puft Imperial Waffle and Candied Bacon Marshmallow Porter

Well, if the name is a bit of a mouthful. . . so is the beer. Its very, very sweet, and more of a desert beer, meaning, you dont need a desert if your going to have one of these.

Its super strong, but doesn’t seem it at all!

I’ve tried the original version of this and honestly, I cant tell much difference with this one. theres a very slight smokiness to it when you first open the can and I think it smells slightly more than it tastes different.

Dont expect something mind-blowingly out there, or the sweet taste of a bacon butty in your mouth because you will be disappointed. All in all , well worth a try.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 9%

Would I recommend? You have to try it.

Would I buy again? I will probably stick to the original

Rating: 4/5

ABC – What are the Cornish boys to do?

A nice, smooth stout, nothing exceptional, but easy drinking.

Doesnt taste as strong as it is, not sure if thats a good or bad thing!

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 6.2%

Would I recommend? Yes

Would I buy again? Possibly not, its quite expensive as its a craft beer, but doesn’t offer anything special.

Rating: 3/5

Tetley – Imperial

Definately a local beer, apparently, and I am not sure how true it is. . . this is brewed specifically for Teesside and is seldom seen outside the area. If I am honest, I cant remember the last time I saw it on tap in the area which is sad.

Its a lovely pint. Dark, flavoursome, and like some others, the quality varies from pub to pub based on how good they are at keeping it.

I’m a big fan of this one and only wish it was more widely available. You used to be able to get it in Aldi now and then around 15 years ago, but not seen it in bottle since.

Sampled from: Tap / Bottle

ABV – 4.3%

Would I recommend? Yeah, if you can find it, you need to try it.

Would I buy again? First chance I get.

Rating: 4/5

Camerons – Strongarm

If you are looking for something with a bit more to it than a Smiths Smooth, look no further. There are pubs that can keep and serve this right and there are those that cant. . . My local club has it down to perfection! 😉

Its a tasty bitter, quite widespread throughout the North East, and a personal favourite of mine.

Sampled from: Tap / Bottle

ABV – 4%

Would I recommend? Well aye.

Would I buy again? Absolutely

Rating: 4/5

Theakstons – Old Peculier

This is undoubtedly my favourite beer.

I just cannot resist a pint of this if I see it on tap.

Its got everything. . . It has a really distinct almost fruity taste to it, its dark, its strong enough that it will blow your socks off if you drink too much of it, and for me at least, its brewed relatively close to home (but still far enough that I cant go to the brewery every day otherwise I would be in big trouble).

Only negative I would say is. . . if you have too many, which is easily done. . . you will have the worst hangover imaginable. . . You have been warned!

Sampled from: Can / Tap / Bottle / Mini-Keg

ABV – 5.6%

Would I recommend? Of Course.

Would I buy again? Tray and stop me!

Rating: 5/5

Vocation / Brew York – Sweet Temptation

This is a collaboration beer produced by Vocation Brewery and Brew York.

It is very nice, sweet, perhaps a little sickly, deffo no more than one needed.

Tastes as described. Not much more to say really. Oh. . . there are better Chocolately beers out there, such as Brew Yorks Brownie Pints.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 6.6%

Would I recommend? Yeah go for it.

Would I buy again? Yes

Rating: 4/5
