Bacchus – Kriekenbier

Belgian Cherry beer. Wow, its super fruity, and basically tastes like real cherries. Its a little gassy, but really, really nice, and the best cherry flavoured beer I have ever sampled.

Westmalle – Dubbel

A lovely dark, slightly floral trappistes ale. Its got all the usual Belgian goodness, sweetness from the yeast, and that typical Belgian taste thats just so unique. A really good beer considering how widely available it is.

St. Pierre – Blond

A Belgian abbey style beer. Tastes exactly the same as Leffe Blonde. Seems to be stocked as a seasonal special in Aldi and is a bargain at £3, saving a whopping 50p off average rival supermarkets Leffe Blonde. Its really nice, has that typical sweet taste that comes from the Belgian yeast. Lovely pint.

Westmalle – Tripel

A Belgian Trappist ale. Its nice, golden in colour, strong, as to be expected, with the usual, distinctive malty, and sweet taste associated with a trappist ale. Not bad at all.

Trappistes Rochefort – 10

This is my current favourite Belgian beer, its dark, strong, super rich flavoured with a fruity and chocolatiness. Its just superb. A well earned treat once in a while 😉

Coors – Blue Moon

This has to be the single most overrated and ultimately crap beer I have ever tasted. I know what its supposed to taste like, a belgian wheatbeer, but somehow it just tastes like slightly fizzy over-diluted orange squash. Its gassy, has a mildly cirtussy flavour and is served with a slice of orange in it?! A proper tarts drink. . . I just dont see the point in it, but. . . I have a lot of hipster type mates that love it, so they must be doing something right I suppose, or. . . my mates are just sheep!

Radeberger – Pilsner

My first German review, which is very surprising. The germans are very passionat about their Bier albeit for the most part it is what we would refer to as lager. . .

This is no different in the respect that it is indeed a lager. a Pilsner to be precise. Its very mellow and smooth. Has a wheatiness to it and isn’t as harsh / constrained as most lagers.
