Stouts

S43 – Bean Me Up, Stouty

Imperial Hazlenut and Coffee Milk Stout.

This is a complex one. . . Initially it smells proper strongly of coffee, and the first taste is the same. Its strong, smooth and sweet, possibly a little too sweet, its that kind of sweetness you get with any milk stout, gotta be honest, that sicklyness became a little overpowering about half way through.

Still an awesome beer and definately one to try

Pentrich – Breakfast Stout

Wow, this has to be my favourite beer to date.

Tried it a couple of years ago as a guest ale and never seen it since.

It tastes incredible, a bit chocolately, very smooth and drinkable, but word of caution, its strong! but doesn’t taste it!

Black Sheep – Milk Stout

Its an interesting one this.

Its sweet, but not sickly, its got a hoppiness to it, but under all that its a solid stout. Not my favourite by a long shot, but a nice pint all the same.

Would I buy again? Most likely

Ridgeside – Boom & Crust

Its a cherry pie flavoured stout. . . but its also super strong. . . and the best bit. . . It actually tastes as it should. Although not all at the same time.

Its quite complex. Initially you get the harsh generic Stout flavour and the strength is apparent, this melts away into a biscuity pie crust sort of flavour, then you get the cherry, and I am pleased to say it actually tastes like cherry too, unlike a lot of supposedly cherry beers I have tried before.

Sadlers – Mud City Stout

OK, its sweet, and smooth but nothing to write home about. It doesn’t really taste of chocolate or vanilla as its supposed to. it does have a mildly synthetic vanilla taste, but its not particularly nice.

ABV – 6%

Would I recommend? Not really

Would I buy again? No

De Moursleutel – Resonance

Coconut Stout all the way from The Netherlands, for sure!

Its got a really nice taste, its not overly sweet and kind of tastes a little like a liquid Bounty bar.

Sampled from: Can

Country of Origin: Netherlands

ABV – 8%

Would I recommend? If you get chance to try. . . Do it!

Would I buy again? Yes

Beatnikz Republic – Kentucky Riot

I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed with this one.

There’s nothing wrong with it as a beer, very nice and drinkable, however it claims to be brewed in bourbon casks etc. and I was anticipating at least abit of that to come out in the taste. I wasn’t getting any of that, so it came across as just a pretty plain Jane stout, with a craft beer price-tag.

Sampled from: Can

ABV – 5%

Would I recommend? If your goal is to try all beers then you have to, otherwise, maybe give it a swerve.

Would I buy again? Nah
