Reviews of individual beers.

Kirkstall – Virtuous

A nice, delicate, refreshing IPA, claims to be an “Aromatic Session IPA”, I guess that refers to the floral notes that can be picked up. All in all, not bad.

Steen Brugge – Blond

A lovely Belgian abbey beer. All the usual taste of the nice soft warmth associated with the Belgian yeast, enhanced with spices? Well it has a slight banana flavour to it, and a nice additional warmth. A lovely beer.

Moondog – Old Mate

This was a surprise package, it has a caramel sort of taste with lots of nice fruitiness, like mellow citrus fruits, couldn’t pinpoint the specifics, but a really nice beer.

Brewdog – Mallow Laser Quest

This is nice, very full on pineapple, fruity and juicy, with a sweetness borne out of the marshmallow flavouring, almost a bit vanilla. Its nice, perhaps a bit sweet, couldnt drink more than one at a time, but all in all not a bad beer.

Buxton Brewery – Citra IPA

The product of a project where the brewery are brewing the same beer recipe time and time again, except with a different single hop type each time, a good way of profiling the hops and working out their unique effect on the flavour profile of beers.

This one is nice and citrussy, sharpish, but mellow enough to be thoroughly enjoyable and refreshing. A really simple yet effective beer. . .
